Remember to keep it local

There are so many reasons to stay local, buy local and support local businesses here in Solano County.

When consumers support the local economy, we’re benefitting ourselves and the consumer.

Did you know that when you shop local, $68 out of every $100 you spend will stay in the community? That money goes to support community classes such as gymnastics and sports for kids, feeding hard-working families and contributing to making our community a vibrant place to live.

Without local shopping, our community would be much less charming than it is now.

We wouldn’t be able to get coffee from Journey’s, where we might run into a co-worker and her baby. We wouldn’t be able to support the local farmers who work hard to grow their crops or get the high-quality threads from a local designer at a downtown boutique.

What happens when you spend that same $100 at a national chain?

Only $43 stays in the community and some for-profit corporation and its leaders get richer.

Keeping funds in the community help us to create more jobs and support more local charities within our community.

When you keep it local, you improve your health. What do we mean by that? Well, when you purchase your food from local farmers, you are steering clear from all the preservatives and chemicals that foods at larger chain companies contain.

Shopping local also has business-to-business benefits.

In Alamo Plaza, Solano Mortgage shares a parking lot with Journey Coffee Co. and Digger’s Deli. Our employees often head over there for their morning coffee or a sandwich at lunch. Many of their employees know us by name and could potentially recommend their customers to us if the need arises. This is so valuable when it comes to gaining more business.

Solano County is so unique and diverse and this is all because we stay local.
